Matthew Fowler is a classical Bass Trombonist and Educator. Matt currently serves as the Principal Bass Trombonist of the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra and is the former Bass Trombonist of the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared with the McKinney Philharmonic, Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, Danville Symphony Orchestra, and the Indiana Ballet. As a champion of music education Matt actively teaches in the Dallas-Fort Worth area maintaining a studio of 40 of the brightest Trombone, Euphonium, and Tuba middle and high school students. In addition to teaching and performing Matt is actively pursuing a DMA in trombone performance at the University of North Texas where he serves as a Teaching Fellow and performs with the Wind Symphony and Consortium Trombone Ensemble. He holds a Master of Music from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music Performance from The University of Alabama. Matt’s primary instructors include Dr. Denson Paul Pollard, Dr. Natalie Mannix, Dr. Jon Whitaker, and Tony Baker. In his free time Matt enjoys running, bingeing sitcoms, and traveling with his Dog Mira.
